I got to go to a baseball game for the first time in FOREVER last Saturday (the 7th). Methinks the last time I was at a game was at the horribly dreary Cardinal Stadium, where our own Louisville RedBirds (no longer around) were playing. That field was just depressing. It doubled as the college football field in the off-season, and was a rusty, hulking mass.
Oh, how things have changed. The baseball gods must have shined on Louisville, because we are now blessed with the Louisville Slugger Field, a truly cool little park. Surrounded by downtown, and the river front (including Riverfront Park), it’s a smallish park (it’s only the minor leagues, you see), but it’s got some cool amenities. The left field sports a little grass hill were you can sit all free-style, and the right field sports the “Overlook Grill”, which has a bunch of picnic tables and such. It’s just damned cool.
Well, anyway, the Louisville RiverBats won in extra innings over the Columbus Clippers, 5-4. I took a bunch of pictures, but this one is the coolest. A 270 degree panorama from our seats on the first base line.

…you MUST talk about Phlite Klub.
Heh… well, i’ve put up an simple page devoted to our radio controlled aircraft exploits here. Phlite Klub is an obvious joke on the wonderful David Fincher film, Fight Club.
There are some new pics of Dave’s sailplane, the “Sophisticated Lady” within the new site, so go and check it. out.

The BBC has been working on a program entitled “The Son of God”. For this program, they have attempted to re-create the face of Jesus with science rather than the current “pretty-boy” image he has now.
Check out the story here, with a picture of the computer-modeled face as well.
My question to you: Do you still want to believe in a religion with this Neanderthal looking mug as your spiritual leader? Not me! I’m joing the Archie Bunker Religion!

So Saturday, I got to fly my remote controlled airplane for the first time. Exhilirating? Oh yes? Nerve-racking? Can be. Proud? Sure.
Well, everything went just fine until the wing folded in half! (oh dear!).
Luckily, everything was captured on film (digital film, actually). Come, gather round children, and I’ll tell you the story of the Flying Shoebox!.

My father used to (and I assume, still does) collect balsa models of planes, and we used to go out to the park to watch other folks fly them. I always loved that idea, but assumed that it was ludicrously expensive.
Well, it’s not CHEAP cheap, but it’s not really all that bad. I recently bought a plane kit and a radio controller, and I’m starting to put it together.
It’s electric, so I don’t have to deal with tiny little gas engines, of which I know little. I at least KNOW how an electric motor works with the alternating current and all that wackiness. So, in any casy, I think the first flight will probably be within a week or two, weather permitting. I can’t wait.

Well, it’s been a LOOOONG damned time since I posted anything here, and I apologize, though it’s not like I have a huge readership. In any case, I have been slowly working through the new version theLocust, or more accurately, a complete weblog-thingy codenamed “Spanktoy”. Ok, it’s not “Spanktoy”, but i’m calling it “kludge-o”. Click the link to read a definition of “kludge”.
In any case, I REALLY hope to have this new version up sometime in the next two weeks. I’ve really been hampered by other hobby interests (damned Dreamcast), and sometimes I wonder why I do this at all, really, but then I get back on that horse, and keep coding.
The new version of the weblog will have plenty of cool shit. Including, configurable front page (different little sideboxes, called “widgets”), the ability to submit news either to a user-voted queue, or directly to the admins, a polling booth, and numerous neat little things. I’m about 64.3% done with the stuff I want to get done, so if I put the pedal down, it’ll get done.
I’ve also registered kyGeek.org, intended to be a community weblog for techies in Kentuckiana, and it will run kludge-o when I gets it goin’.
In the meantime, why don’t you go despise Scientology a little more.

That’s right, ladies and germs, the Onion, America’s Finest News Source, has done an interview with my favorite English transvestite comedian, Eddie Izzard.
Apparently, Eddie has just wrapped up a role in The Cat’s Meow, a film about Charlie Chaplin with Kirsten Dunst. He speaks about that, his start in acting, and a good portion about Lenny Bruce, and his playing Bruce on stage.

Greetings, all… If you’ve been wondering why I haven’t posted much here in the past while, it’s been because I’ve been working on the new version of the site. While the look and feel will stay much the same, a lot of the back-end stuff is changing. I’m trying to make this site work with two different databases, and making it easier for me to implement new stuff into the site.
The passwords will also change, and I’ll let you know when that happens with some sort of mass email. I’m also working on user news submissions, so HOPEFULLY, I can actually get people to come here to the site and READ, REPLY, and/or SUBMIT some news. It’s really kinda depressing to see “0 Comments” ad infinitum, but I think that is for a couple of reasons, really. A) I’m Boring B) User interaction on the site is mighty low (i.e. no posting of news by users, just me (and Hunter).
In any case, I’m working diligently. For you.

I wrote a couple of articles over at NerdPerfect (after a long absence). They are mainly of a techie-dork substance, so I didn’t feel justified in putting them here. So, here’s some links:
You Can’t Polish a Turd, But You Can Release Nice Screen Shots of It
The Story of Ping -or- How the Internet Keeps a Joke Alive
Flix – Video to Flash, Reviewed by Wonko
Okay, so the last one is a bit of mindless link propagation (MLP for short), but give ‘em a read if you wanna. Enjoy!

Just got word that BlandPlanet has a new design, and is being updated rather regularly.
BlandPlanet, for those of you who don’t know, is the rambling of a mad man! Ok, so maybe it’s not… It’s essentially all things Gary. Anime, video games, music, you name it. It’s there…
Now, just as soon as Gary (aka MaxMok) gets me a nifty little BlandPlanet button, I’ll put it up.
