In my 20-plus years of digitally-focused agency experience, I've been a full-stack developer, a strategist, teammate and a leader. I’ve put that combination of skills to work to build agencies, grow teams, lead super successful projects and - at the end of the day - do honest, valuable work.
My passions lie in digging deep, collaborating, and creating.
My core strengths are: Analyzing + Organizing Complex Systems • Translating from Research to Action • Writing, Visualizing + Presenting • Creative Concepting + Collab • Mentoring and Leadership
Equal parts listening, testing and planning.
Creating and executing strong, true brands
Creating user-focused experiences with creatives of all types.
Helping to build teams that work well together
In 2019, I founded the Strategy department at VIA Studio, becoming Director. As a member of leadership and the head of Strategy, I define and implement strategic practices throughout the agency while serving as lead strategist on numerous critical client projects.
Seeking to expand my skill set and explore the emerging world of digital strategy, I joined VIA Studio in 2013.
I was invited to join Power in 2003 as a developer. In that role, I utilized my systems analysis skills to assist project management and new business to specify & create innovative solutions for our clients. In combination with my ability listen and communicate soon made me a critical part of a quickly growing digital team. In 2009, I was tapped to lead the Power Digital team of a dozen strategists and developers.
Day-to-day, my role included leadership and team management, client interaction, scoping and estimating projects, information design, UX design, strategy and development.
In my leadership role with the Power Digital team, I facilitated and managed workflow, designed new processes and developed our in-house talent while developing amazing digital projects.

My technical skills cross between development and design - and I am passionate about picking up new skills and tools. I have extensive database design + SQL experience. I regularly press Google Sheets to its limits. Tools for visualization like Google Data Studio, Tableau is the nexus for my talents. My early career was as a full-stack developer. While my career has shifted, I keep up-to-date with web stack technologies like PHP, React and HTML. I have built design skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier) for personal and professional use. I love editing audio and video. I make good buttermilk biscuits from scratch. I love to keep things documented and organized, whether that's in a data structure, tasks in Basecamp or in an intranet wiki.
I am currently Google Ads, Google Analytics and Facebook Blueprint Certified, having managed hundreds of thousands of dollars in ad spend over the years on these, and other platforms.
I am married and have two children - a girl and a boy. I love cramming their little noggins with fun, crafty, sciency crazy stuff.
I regularly volunteer my time at the best elementary school in Jefferson County - Lincoln Performing Arts School (LPAS) - where my two children attend classes.
Also, since 2016, I've been the head coach for LPAS XC - the LPAS Elementary Cross-Country team. I organize and coach 50+ kids through a 4-month season, focusing on personal improvement, respect and teamwork.
In 2020, I was elected to a two-year term as a Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council Member for LPAS.
I was (am?) a Boy Scout, reaching the "Life" rank.
I'm equally handy with a knife as I am with a soldering iron or a shovel. To that end, I love to cook, tinker and build. There's nothing more rewarding than getting blisters on my hands from honest work.
I've always been awed by aviation and the science and engineering of it - so prior to having kids, my main hobby was building composite (carbon/kevlar) model sailplanes and competing with them in national contests.
Now though, I'm a committed runner and cyclist, and enjoy a good long solo run or ride to set my head straight and get some real thinking done. Here's my Strava profile.
I love music, collect records and play guitar, poorly.
I love to play chess, but I'm not great at it.
