Ben Wilson

ben wilson This is the blog of a one Ben Wilson, a Louisville, Kentucky native who enjoys baseball, beer, music, bikes, things that fly and good food. By day he pushes pixels and makes the Internet happen for a local advertising agency. His wife, Kelly is an Ironman, and his baby Amelia is the cutest thing ever.

Me, as an experienced online buyer, I’ve tracked a few UPS packages. I like to watch them be loaded and unloaded, scanned for departure, etc. However, my current shipment, a new video card from Bunta.com, has gone awry.

Upon checking the status of my shipment (click here to see it), I find there is an “exception”. Well, inquisitive as I am, I got to check it out.

Hmm… what is the status of my package…. ah.. it departed San Gabriel, California, at 3:11am, and it’s next stop was a WHAT?!? A TRAIN DERAILMENT! Holy Schnikes!

Apparently, the nearest UPS Ground Hub is through Flagstaff, Arizona, along I-40, which is where this train derailment happened (stories here and here, and directions between San Gabriel and Flagstaff here).

Well, so let my poor video card be in your prayers. Oh, and all of those injured in this horrible, fiery crash too… (that’s a joke, Eve) (Not that Eve has replied to the story, but I could just imagine her response — Benjamin!)

Well, this has to be one of the weirdest stories I’ve heard in quite some time. The is a segment of our population that would like to see one or more of their healthy limbs cut off! This Salon article profiles a few of these people, in typical Salon fashion.

Of course, as any good Salon story, this article starts out to explain the disorder, and then throws in the gratuitous sexual references. Throw in wacked-out MDs that have records that put Jack Kevorkian to shame, fetishists, and knife-wielding Mexicans, and it makes for an interesting bit of a story.

Hey all, Gary and Hunter have been slaving away again (on their vacations!) on their website. Now, i haven’t been over there yet (THAT IS JUST HOW HOT THIS NEWS IS!), but i’m sure it’s spectacular (as long as you use IE tee-hee). So, go on over and check that shit out.

Consider this “Hit the Road… Part Deux”. Gary and Hunter have posted more photos from their trip (now viewable in BOTH browsers! hehe), including them building sandcastles on the beach, and taking moon-lit strolls, too!

What do you want to bet that they both re-enacted Senator Kelly (freshly-mutantized) popping out of the water as jelly-fish man? If i were a bettin’ man.

Anywho, go here to check it out.

This is absolutely great! I was looking for images of Bolsheviks on the web (don’t ask), and I happen to come upon a picture of what looked like Bolshevik lunchboxes. Well! I was intrigued. Turned out, they were from this online store called Archie McPhee’s. Along with the Bolshevik lunchboxes are this KGB hip flask and this Nodding Diablo in Wicked Suit. The stuff is pretty cheap, too… I’m all about that flask, though.

This here is a little story about a woman and a miniature vacuum. This article is a litle strange for Salon, but its an interesting read. Continue to page two (2) to read all the gory details. Included is the reference to a clitoris as “the little canoe driver”. Wow. I’m going to towel off.
